Alzheimer’s Disease: Diabetes Type 3
Join Debra Kirchhof-Glazier, for a presentation about why Alzheimer’s Disease is now being recognized as diabetes type 3 and provide exciting breakthroughs in food-as-medicine research that will substantially lower your risk. The focus will be on the MIND (Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay) Diet. Participants will learn how this nutritional approach can be beneficial for overall cognitive health and will be given a handout with an overview of the MIND Diet and a link for additional information.
Debra Kirchhof-Glazier taught biology at Juniata College from 1981 until her retirement in 2017. She served as the Health Professions Director from 1989 to 2014 and offered numerous courses in biology and health professions during her 36-year career. Deb taught Nutrition from 2005 to 2016 from a food-as-medicine perspective and spent her final sabbatical in 2014 studying nutritional medicine at the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Deb is a staunch proponent of integrative medicine, which combines complementary and alternative medicine with conventional medicine. She and her husband Doug have two adult children- Brynda, a ceramic sculptor, and Darron, whose multiple disabilities served as a catalyst for her passion in nutritional and integrative medicine.
What is the Integrative Care System and how does Reiki fit within?
Join Debra Pecka, who her presentation which will include the review of the Integrative Care System. We will discuss:
- How this system of care complements traditional medicine
- The benefits, as well as some, accumulated data of evidence
- How Eastern Reiki has made its way to the West in hopes of reestablishing its most traditional and simplified practice.
The audience will participate in demonstration of how the East commonly refers to feeling the flow within the body. The Reiki Team will interact with the audience during the ppt as well.
Deborah is the Owner/Operator of Reiki Center for Body and Mind, Inc. in Hollidaysburg. She received her naturopath education from Trinity School of Natural Health and is also a Certified Natural Health Specialist. She is a Register Shihan through the Jikiden Reiki® Institute in Kyoto, Japan, and is also a Western Reiki Teacher. Deborah and the Reiki Center Team participate in organization/corporate wellness events and provide Reiki within the medical/clinical environment and cancer care center.

Each newsletter will contain research and an accompanying case study designed to inspire you to make healthier decisions and to begin to view food as medicine.
Registration begins at 6:30pm and the program begins promptly at 7:00pm.
